To be an Air Cadet you must be 13 years old, or 12 years old if you are already in year 8 in school. The latest you can join is before your 17th birthday. Most cadets leave when they are 20 years old and some stay involved as an adult volunteer.

Air Cadets is a UK-wide cadet force with more than 40,000 members aged between 13 and 20 years. Air Cadets can give you hands-on experience of activities and courses that will challenge and develop your skills to help you succeed in whatever you want to do.

The aims are to: Promote and encourage a practical interest in aviation and the Royal Air Force among young people aged 13-18. Provide training which will be useful in the Services and civilian life. Encourage the spirit of adventure and develop qualities of leadership and good citizenship.

User Cost/Charge Information
Each cadet pays a small subscription which goes towards funding the many activities they enjoy. Most squadrons charge around £10 per month to cover running costs, transport and other expenses. National and international camps and expeditions may be an extra cost.
