Basingstoke Community Transport

About

Basingstoke Community transport provides community transport to the community of Basingstoke and the surrounding areas including Hart.

For older people that don’t have a car, have poor mobility, and find it difficult to use public transport or that live in rural areas with poor transport links, it can be difficult to get out and about. They run a fleet of fully wheelchair accessible minibuses. All with 16 seats without wheelchairs and all seats have seat belts provided. Application forms to use their services are available on their website.

Group hire:
Mini-buses are provided for group hire where the vehicle and qualified driver are included. Current users of group hire vehicles include local schools, clubs, groups of friends, nursing and residential homes. All mini-buses are subject to availability for daily hire.

Individual users:
Transport to individual users is available where the vehicle and the qualified driver are included. All bookings are subject to availability.

Minibus hire:
Minibuses are available for hire for voluntary and community groups. In this instance the vehicle can be hired and the group provides its own driver, however the organisation driver must provide their own PERMIT 19 and display it on the front window of the bus. This is commonly when groups want to go on longer day trips or weekly excursions. If a group hires a bus and wants to use their own driver then that driver MUST be MiDAS trained, we now provide MIDAS training.

Trips and excursions:
From time to time we provide daily excursions and trips out for individuals to book and travel as a group, from a garden centre, to the seaside. Please sign up to their mailing list for notifications.

About Basingstoke Community Transport

Basingstoke Community Transport was set up for the community to bring people together and cater for their welfare, collecting prescriptions, doing a little shopping for them or taking them to appointments with a single transit minibus. They currently have 14 wheelchair accessible minibuses of various sizes and three cars.

The service is run as a not for profit organisation so any costs incurred by members covers the cost of running all aspects of the business, from fuel, insurance, vehicle repairs and running the office.
