Brightwells Gostrey (Day Activities for the over 65s)

Brightwells Gostrey has been in the heart of the Farnham community for older people 65+ for nearly 40 years providing a warm and friendly place to meet or make friends, have a cup of coffee, enjoy lunch, take part in a group, activity or start a new hobby.

Based at the Memorial Hall in Farnham, they offer a wide range of activities and drop in classes. Led by their friendly wellbeing co-ordinator and dedicated team of volunteers.

Activities include:
- Exercise (weekly group helping to improve strength, balance, flexibility and confidence)
- Craft club (including crochet, knitting, memory books, cross stitch, model making, pottery, card making, tie dyeing)
-Gentlemen's group (involving cards, scrabble, puzzles and topical discussions)
-Computer/Technology classes (aimed at those that want to learn about technology from using a tablet, smartphone or desktop computer to surfing the web safely and navigating shopping online, social media and keeping in touch digitally)
-Traditional & Non Traditional Games (such as skittle alley, snooker, air hockey, football, table tennis, target practice and inclusive cricket.
-Other activities include music, singing, day trips, theatrical performances, film club, gardening and walking for health.

Higher need services:
Brightwells Gostrey offers a range of services to help unlock some of the doors that dementia and Alzheimer’s disease seems to close, helping to create friendships, encourage confidence and maintain independence. These include seated physical and cognitive exercise class in partnership with Right At Home, sensory activities for creative stimulation and engagement and small group and one to one sharing sessions.
