Dementia Café - Odiham
About
The Sunflower Café meets at the Old School on Wednesday afternoons - 14.00-16.00.
About Sunflower Café
The Sunflower Café aims to be a safe and welcoming social environment for people living with dementia and their carers, families, and friends. Having dementia or Alzheimer's can be isolating and negative experience for all involved. But The Sunflower Café offers opportunities to mix and socialise with other people in a similar situation for a couple of hours a week. This is a community project for people living with dementia in Odiham and surrounding villages/towns. Refreshments are available and free of charge. Games and activities can be played, with support from the volunteer Helpers, who are all Dementia Friends‚ an Alzheimer's Society information initiative. There are many popular table games and puzzles, as well as table tennis. Time at the Café can allow the family member and carer, to chat with others, and break down the barriers of isolation. The Sunflower Café's aims to be caring and confidential to all, while dispelling myths and the stigma that can surround dementia and Alzheimer's.
