Parents' Support
About
Are you a struggling mum, a bereaved parent, in need of baby clothing or equipment or caring for a young person with a mental illness? The Safe, a local charity based in Basingstoke offers the following support groups and services:
* The Safe Group – A place to be family, maybe just the support you need. This is a group specifically for mums who maybe are feeling isolated and would benefit from the encouragement of others. Wednesday mornings at The Safe. 10.00-11.30, Toddler to School age. Wednesday afternoon at The Safe. 12:30-14.00, Baby to Pre-Walkers.
* Bereaved Parents Support - a 1:1 service for parents who have had a child/children death through either stillbirth, Neonatal death, SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome), Foetal abnormality or in early childhood.
* The Baby Clothing and Equipment Service aims to support any mothers, fathers or couples who are struggling financially to provide their baby with the necessary equipment or clothing. The Safe accepts donations of good quality clothing (ages 0 to 6) and equipment such as cots, prams, stair gates, baby baths and high chairs.
* Hope for Carers is entirely focused on the wellbeing of the parents and carers as they navigate the very difficult path of supporting and caring for their loved one. Each parent’s situation is unique to them but there are often similar stresses, anxieties and emotions experienced even if the circumstances are different. The purpose of ‘Hope for Carers’ is as follows: Give hope to parents that things can improve in the future. An opportunity to (confidentially) share experiences with other parents in similar situations. Learn practical ways of handling the enormous stresses and anxieties – which can otherwise lead to both physical and emotional illness of the parent/carer. Hope for Carers meets from 10 to 12 noon on the first Friday of every month. This group also runs on Zoom on the Tuesday following the first Friday.
