Friends of Oakley Park

About

Oakley Park is situated in Fleet, just a few minutes’ walk from the high street and station. The Park, which is managed by Fleet Town Council covers five acres and consists of two distinct areas: a two-acre open space with leisure facilities, pathways, a football pitch and pavilion; and three acres of woodland nature reserve and pond. There is a permanent orienteering route created by the Southern Navigators Clubs which can be obtained by e-mailing oakleyorienteering@gmail.com

Each year Friends of Oakley Park run a number of events generally including a children’s fun run, Easter egg hunt, summer fete, carols at Christmas, bush craft skills and more. Behind the scenes Friends of Oakley Park regularly carry out routine conservation maintenance and clearing of undergrowth.

Membership is open to everyone. The membership fees, donations and sponsorship monies are only used to maintain and improve the park. By joining Friends of Oakley Park either as a member or volunteer you become involved with a community who are passionate about our environment and Oakley Park.

Oakley Park is 5 minutes’ walk from the high street and 15 minutes’ walk from the station. If visiting by car, there is adequate parking around the park. Please park sensibly so as not to cause obstruction to local residents.

About Friends of Oakley Park

Friends of Oakley Park was founded in September 1989, by local residents who were concerned about the condition of the park. Today, we are a not-for-profit community group run by a Committee of volunteers who freely give their time and expertise. We are funded by members' contributions, donations and grants and are fully accountable to our membership. The Committee, who jointly manage any fund raising or community projects, The Committee meets monthly to review the financial situation, agree the programme of events and decide who will undertake specific tasks.
