About The Victoria & Jubilee Halls
The Victoria Hall has a long history dating back to 1898, when it was opened by Lady Calthorpe on 20 October, after a year of planning and raising of public subscriptions. The Parish Council built the hall in order to commemorate Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee. The cost of the building was some £998 and constructed in the ‘Arts and Crafts’ style. The village of Hartley Wintney became an ‘Arts and Crafts centre’ at the turn of the century. After the grand opening there are no further records of Minutes until 1921. This was when the building of an additional small hall was on the agenda. It became the Edward Hall, built to commemorate the reign of King Edward V11. In June 1996 the Victoria Hall Charity and Management Committee formed and took an active role to restore the Hall to its original design. Providing modern facilities that would sustain the building for a further 100 years. In recent years, there have been many highlights but the most important one occurred in 2012, the construction of the stunning Jubilee Hall.
The Victoria and Jubilee halls host a variety of events ranging from monthly on-screen entertainment through to live music. There are over 40 regular hall users; running different dance and exercise classes, stage events, musical recitals, live bands, celebrations and wedding receptions. Thus, creating more than 40,000 visits each year!
