Appeer: Support for Autistic Girls & Women
About
Appeer offers the following services:
* Peer Groups - helping to connect autistic girls and women and those around them.
* Online Sessions - online gaming for autistic girls aged 7-18 years.
* Parent & Carers Activities.
* Resources.
*Alternative Provision Weekday Groups - for autistic girls/young women aged 10-18 years.
Weekday Groups are designed to support autistic girls who may not be in full time education, including those who are out of school, home educated and/or who have EOTAS or other weekday support via EHCPs. Appeer can also support those who are in school, but who would benefit from some peer connections, small group specialist support and respite from the busy school environment. They are able to consider applications from autistic girls in the Surrey, SW London, Hampshire or Berkshire areas who can attend independently without 1:1 support and who meet their admissions criteria. For ages 10-18 years. Venue in Woking.
About Appeer
Appeer is a not-for-profit organisation run to benefit autistic girls and women, and those around them. Appeer provides online and in-person sessions and programmes which support A Positive PEER approach, through which autistic Girls, Teens and Women and their Parents/Carers can connect through sharing interests and receiving support. All of their work is underpinned by 6 key strands: supporting life skills, social, emotional, and mental health and wellbeing, and promoting an understanding of autism.
In-person sessions and programmes are currently based in venues in Surrey and can be booked by families living in or close to Surrey. Online groups and activities can be accessed by those who live both within and nearby Surrey (although Surrey families may be prioritised in some sessions due to funding restrictions).
